LOCATION & TIME
We meet Sundays at 10:00am at the Howard Johnson Inn, 1300 3rd St. SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880.
For a reference, the Howard Johnson is right next to the Wawa and across the street from Firehouse subs.
Since we are meeting at a hotel we do not want to interfere with the resturant and hotel parking. We ask that you enter on the left-hand side (north end) of the Howard Johnson and park in the spots on the left-hand side along the fence-line. Park and follow the signs to our main entrance where a greeter will warmly welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
WHAT TO EXPECT INSIDE
Inside, a greeter will point you towards our café area where we have coffee, bagles and iced water available. We love our café, not only because we love coffee, but also because we believe that a big part of Christian worship is simply being together as a community -- gathered around Jesus. Some in our community are veteran churchgoers while others are merely curious or perhaps even skeptical of the faith. No matter where you are on your faith journey, we think a good cup of coffee and a conversation can go a long way in making folks feel welcome. After you check out the café, a greeter will hand you a worship folder (your guide throughout the service) and point you to an open seat.
If you have children five years old and younger, you are welcome to escort them to the Nursery and Preschool area behind the sanctuary before the service for age-appropriate play and lessons. If you have children kindergarten age through 5th grade, they get to enjoy the first portion of the worship service and will be dismissed to Southwest Kids later for their own unique time of crafts, games, and lessons from scripture. We believe that learning about Jesus should be a blast so we have a dedicated team of volunteers who facilitate small group age-appropriate activities to teach children how much they are loved by God. We strive to create an environment to which the kids look forward to coming each week!
The service begins at 10:00am with songs of worship, scripture readings, and corporate prayers of confession and faith. We love to use the best songs and prayers from the ancient church as well as the modern church, and our musical style differs a little each week. At RSW we believe that worship is not a concert or a spectator sport, but a time for all of us to participate in a reenactment of God’s story: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration. Worship shapes our identity as the people of God! After a time of singing and praying together, we pause in the middle of the service to greet one another with God’s peace, hear what’s happening in the RSW community, and the children are dismissed to Southwest Kids! A bible-based relevant sermon follows and we usually close the service with a song and a promise (benediction) from God’s word.
